Some testimonies are from the dictionary definition of scholar or someone who holds a PhD or Professor from a university and others are from ex-members regarded as 'scholars of Mormonism' by the ex-Mormon community.

Latayne C. Scott is the award-winning author of over a dozen books, published by major publishers such as Zondervan, Moody, Baker, Word and others. In addition, she has published poems, radio plays, and hundreds of articles in several magazines.

Richard Packham holds a B.A. With High Honors from Brigham Young University (1954), an M.A. from Northwestern University (1955), and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco (1974). He did four years of postgraduate study in linguistics at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Munich (1957-61), the latter year as a Fulbright Scholar. Before his retirement (1990) he taught German, Spanish, Latin, English, law and computer science, mostly at City College of San Francisco. He was a member of the California State Bar and the Oregon State Bar, and practiced law in both states.

Lyndon Lamborn is a cum laude graduate of Utah State University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with an MS degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He has been employed as an Engineering Scientist at Boeing since 1983, and is also a professor of mathematics, currently teaching algebra and calculus at Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ.

Stephen Jones has both a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He is a successful businessman with a wife and two children. Stephen and his family live in the Park City area of Utah where he is an avid reader of all things Mormon. His research of Mormonism’s beginnings is what led to his unbelief in the LDS Church.

Wes Cauthers is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a BS degree in Family Studies and Human Development; he also received an MA in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle, Washington. He now lives near Tacoma, Washington with his wife Tricia and their son Lincoln where he works as a therapist in private practice. Wes has a passion to work with people who leave Mormonism and others experiencing spiritual abuse which is often a traumatic experience. Arza Evans is a retired college professor who grew up thoroughly indoctrinated with Mormonism. He went on a full time Church mission, served in several bishoprics, and also worked in an L.D.S. Temple. About age forty he began some serious research into early Mormon history that led to traumatic but liberating changes in his life. He wrote the book "The Keystone Of Mormonism".

William Wilson holds a bachelors degree in anthropology from the State University College of NY at Buffalo (1980) and masters degree in applied cultural anthropology from Northern Arizona University (1984) where he works today as an applied anthropologist and part time instructor. He speaks a smattering of languages including Navajo, Welsh, Italian, Spanish, German and his native English.

Joseph C Smith is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia where he taught jurisprudence and law from 1961 to 2000. He is the author of six books in legal philosophy and postmodern critical social theory, and was the founder and director of the UBC Faculty of Law Artificial Intelligence Research (FLAIR) Project. He holds a BA from Brigham Young University, an LLB from the University of British Columbia, and an LLM from Yale University.

Dr. Lynn Wilder is a wife, mother, grandmother, scholar, and author with a doctorate in education. In her 11 years as a professor and researcher, and 20 years as a teacher, she has mentored thousands of students and has produced more than 50 scholarly publications. Once tenured faculty at BYU, Dr. Wilder left in 2008 when she experienced a crisis of faith.

Simon G. Southerton is a Principal Research Scientist in the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) Canberra, Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree (Hon I) and a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney. His research is focused on the study of genetic variation in forest trees and he has published about 40 research papers in the field of plant molecular genetics. He is the author of Losing a Lost Tribe (Signature Books, 2004) which considers widely held Mormon beliefs in light of recent genetics research on Native Americans.

Craig Criddle has a Ph.D. from Stanford University. He is a Professor and Senior Fellow, Woods Institute for the Environment, Stanford University, having taught at Stanford since 1998. He formally resigned from the church in 2004, and in 2005 posted an on-line essay "Sidney Rigdon: Creating the Book of Mormon".

Charles Larson is the author of "By His Own Hand Upon Papyrus", where Larson offers an in-depth examination and analysis of the papyri fragments used by Joseph Smith to fabricate his Book of Abraham during the 1830's. He also authored "Numismatic Forgery" and "Destroying Angel".
